Is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Waterproof?

The answer is NO. Unfortunately the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is not waterproof. Similar to its previous versions it is water resistant and comes with an IPX8 rating. With an Ingress Protection Rating of X8 the handset excels in terms of liquid protection. according to Samsung’s labs, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 can handle being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for almost 30 minutes. It is important to remember that this rating does not provide protection against dust, solid particles or other liquids.

There is no rating for protection against dust and other solid particles in the IPX8 standard issued by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) which primarily focuses on water resistance. This implies that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is made to be resistant to accidental spills, splashes and light water exposure.
