Hiding Status and Navigation Bars in Screenshots

One of the frustrations when taking screenshots on your Samsung Galaxy phone is that the status bar and navigation bar (or three buttons) are captured by default. However, with One UI 5.1, Samsung has included a simple toggle to disable the inclusion of these bars in your screenshots.
Here’s how you can enable this feature:

  1. Open your Galaxy phone’s Settings.
  2. Navigate to the “Advanced features” tab.
  3. Look for the section titled “Screenshots and Screen recorder” and select it.
Inside this menu, you will find the toggle option to “Hide status and navigation bars.”
  4. Enable this toggle, and from your next screenshots onward, the status and navigation bars will no longer appear.

Choosing the Location for Saving Screenshots and Screen Recordings

In addition to hiding the status and navigation bars, One UI 5.1 also allows you to customize where your screenshots and screen recordings are saved. By default, these media files are stored in the DCIM folder, along with your camera photos. With the latest update, you now have the flexibility to select any folder on the internal storage to save your screenshots and screen recordings.
Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Galaxy phone.
  2. Scroll down and select “Advanced features.”
  3. Locate and tap on “Screen recorder” from the list of options.
  4. Within the Screen recorder menu, you will find options to save screenshots and screen recordings separately.
  5. Tap on either “Save screenshot to” or “Save screen recordings” to choose the desired folder.
  6. A list of available folders will appear. You can select an existing folder or create a new one using the “+” button at the top of the screen.
  7. Once you have selected the desired folder, all future screenshots or screen recordings will be saved to that location.

Note: It’s important to mention that at present, One UI 5.1 does not support saving screenshots and screen recordings to external storage or microSD cards.
